At SUPERVALU, we're constantly fine-tuning our grocery retail offerings to make sure we have the best formats, product categories and value to respond to the needs of each store’s neighborhood. Our blend of hard discount, traditional supermarkets and price superstores provides our shoppers with options that are right for them.
Supermarkets, traditional retail grocery stores
The retail banners that SUPERVALU owns and operates are trusted household names: CUB FOODS in Minneapolis-St. Paul; HORNBACHER'S in the Fargo-Moorhead area; SHOP 'N SAVE in St. Louis; SHOPPERS in Washington D.C.; and FARM FRESH in Virginia. Many of our grocery stores hold number one or number two market share positions.
Hard discount stores
SUPERVALU owns and operates SAVE-A-LOT, the nation's leading hard discount grocery chain. Currently there are more than 1,170 SAVE-A-LOT stores in all types of neighborhoods — urban, rural and suburban — delivering savings of up to 40 percent compared to conventional grocery stores. Key SAVE-A-LOT markets are in the Midwest, east of the Mississippi, along the Eastern Seaboard from Maine to Florida, and Texas.
To better match the offerings of each store to its surrounding community, SUPERVALU gives each store manager more authority to create a relevant in-store experience for customers and ensure that the store reflects neighborhood preferences.
