LUCKY opened its first store in San Mateo County, California in 1935. Always innovative in its approaches to best serve the customer, LUCKY was a leader in the transition from small stores to supermarkets, opening a flagship store in 1947 that featured a coffee shop and other conveniences. After SUPERVALU® acquired premier ALBERTSONS retail properties in 2006, SUPERVALU revived the LUCKY name to reinforce its commitment to bring communities true neighborhood stores.
There are currently five LUCKY stores in the Southern California area, each store offering a tailored assortment of great-priced items that are most relevant to its customers.
